If your website is not using HTTPS it’s time to get it back in place before July of 2018.
Beginning this summer the Google Chrome address bar will show a lock for a secure site and the words “Not secure” for HTTP pages. If fear of being branded doesn’t motivate you, Google is promising a “small rankings boost” to sites that comply.
The cost of a certificate shouldn’t deter anyone. Lost business because of a scary security warning will cost you more. SSL certificates are less than $100 / year. To get it installed and functioning correctly can take several hours depending on the size of your site and the platform used.
